One Chance to Get it Right: exploring perspectives
and experiences in care home discharge decision-making

Following the completion of Project 2 we identified the need to further explore the perspectives of the stakeholders involved in care home discharge decision-making. Our team, led by Gemma Logan, has been awarded a grant of £25,000 by the Edinburgh Lothians Health Foundation to carry out a follow-on qualitative study titled 'One Chance to Get it Right'.

I have been involved in developing the project concept and protocol and preparing the documentation to submit the study for ethical approval. Recruitment and data collection for the study have now finished and the findings are being analysed. I am one of two researchers conducting qualitative interviews with individuals, their families and members of the multidisciplinary team and am participating in the data analysis and dissemination.
